Let me tell you about my journey into motherhood and why I chose to get into photography.
If you click HERE, you will be brought to my old about me page, before and after my firstborn. Now I have 3 under 3, so lets talk about it!
I had my oldest, in March of 2019, I was 19 years old, turning 20 almost exactly a month after having her and that transition was rough! We decided we wanted her to have a sibling, so when she turned 4 almost 5 months old, we started trying, we ended up getting pregnant with a precious baby boy who was due in mid April, though we werent expecting him to come 10 short days after his big sisters 1st birthday. They are exactly a year and 10 days apart. He was born with colic and was EBF (exclusively breast fed) meaning he was always attached to me, and always crying! This feeling was new to me, I went through baby blues with my daughter where I was sleep deprived and missing my life prior to having her but never did I experience the wave of emotions like I did with my son, I fell into a deep PPD (post partum depression), I then needed medicine for depression and anxiety, so I decided to step up and speak, I told their father I needed a get away ASAP and we were lucky enough to use our last bit of savings for a beach vacation for a week, I was upset because I was supposed to start my period that day we left and be on it the whole trip but I missed it.. I had no thought cross my mind that I was pregnant but the day we got back, at around 11pm I decided to goto the store and get a test, It was super faint but positive, I went back to grab a few other brands, and they all said “pregnant”, “yes”, and had super dark lines. At this time I was only 2 months post partum from having my son but we buckled down, moved, and got everything ready for another baby girl who was born the first week of February. This put her and my son at 10.5 months apart. Life has been smooth sailing with the 3 so far. With two toddlers and an infant its been rough but way easier than I had imagined it to be a year prior. She was the greatest blessing in disguise, my depression eased up after I found out I was pregnant with her because I knew I needed to be the BEST version of myself, not only for her but for the other two, my partner and myself. I found myself constantly taking pictures of them and eventually my storage on my phone went short. I had many social media friends tell me I should look into photography, and with as many times I had been infront of the camera, I never thought about being behind it, So this is where the story turns to my photography journey.
These few raw unedited pictures of my little babies are where my journey had started. I bought a camera, lenses, a camera bag and so forth, and I used my kids as my starting point, I didn’t start editing, adding filters or anything of that sort until I saw my true potential through my photos. My babies are quite older than when these were taken, yet I still pull out my camera any chance I get. I knew this was something I was destined to do because it was the only thing I was able to sit and read about, I have photography books and magazines stacked up next to my equipment, I watched endless youtube videos about my specific camera and proper editing tools. Although there’s always room for growth, I feel as if I have grown such a significant amount since taking these first photos. I now have clients who trust in me to photograph beautiful moments as I work on growing my business. I get excited when I have a session, and its always an itch I sometimes try to fight when I grab my camera because every chance I get, I make sure it’s in my hand so the moments dont go unnoticed. My journey has just began but if you are here reading this, or supporting me an any way, you are now along with me on this journey aswell, and I am so grateful and happy to have each of you readers alongside with me while I grow into something I never saw myself grow into!
Outdoor photography is always a hit or miss, due to weather and location.
My favorite places to shoot outdoors are anywhere near water, or surrounded by gorgeous trees and wildlife. I love to take photos in a garden of beautiful and tall flowers, tall grassy areas, bridges with mountains far behind and so on.
If you live in columbus ohio and want some place ideas for the perfect scenery, keep reading because I tell you all of the most amazing spots to do a shoot. And for those in surrounding areas or other states, I will put a few pictures side by side with their locations, so you can either travel to those specific places or find a similar one closest to you!
Columbus, Ohio Photography Scenery
Highbanks Metro Park; Located 9466 Columbus Pike, Lewis Center OH 43035
This park is a large public park with lots of different scenery. Tons of wildlife and trails, a waterfall, Indoor viewing spots and so on.. A very beautiful place during all seasons but especially summer and fall seasons.
Inniswood Metro Gardens; Located 940 S Hempsead Rd, Westerville OH 43081
This Garden type of scenery is covered with beautifully landscaped gardens, nature and wildlife is untouched and irregularly is it busy. The best times of the year to go here is during summer when the flowers are bloomed and at their most gorgeous state.
Lynd Fruit Farm; Located 9399 Morse Rd SW, Pataskala OH 43062
This gorgeous farm scenery is best during end of summer, to mid fall. Lynd’s offers a medium sized sunflower patch, apple, peach, and pumpkin picking, warm apple cider on a light fall evening, and picture wise, it is absolutely perfect. They offer photography props such as a swing located in the sunflower patch, a few wooden props you can climb onto and overall the whole scenery is amazing! a definite must for photography.
North Park Bank Located; 311 W Long St, Columbus OH 43215
North Park Bank is located in downtown columbus, which is already gorgeous in its self, but the view from NPB is perfect for a city/water view of downtown columbus.
Whetstone Park Of Roses Located; 3901 N High St, Columbus OH 43214
ENDLESS gazebos and roses, this is especially recommended for engagement type of photos, need I say more!!
These are ofcourse not all but many of my favorite recommended views to check out or even photograph.
Moving to other locations outside of ohio!
The Grand Canyon, AZ
Big Bend National Park, TX
Brooklyn Bridge, NYC NY
Forsyth Park, Savannah GA
These are only a select few places that would be ideal for photography of any kind, if you are not near any of these or a particular one you find reaches to you most, find some place similar, fountains, water such as lakes, rivers, streams, waterfalls, gardens, flower filled fields or even empty fields with nothing in the background are especially perfect during sunset hours. Mountains, hills, bridges, city life during any hour is always an amazing view. You just have to have an eye for the art behind the camera its self, you can make something out of anything nomatter the circumstances.
If you feel I should add a suitable/better location than the few listed here, leave a comment on your favorite places!
